SOcial issue clock

Deaf Accessibility

Adapting the way the hearing world runs in order to accommodate for the Deaf Community, allowing them as much ease of life as we expect or desire in the Hearing Community.

The Project

Choose a current social issue pressing to you in society right now. Visualize a way to represent an aspect of this issue in the form of a fully functional 12 inch round clock

The Outcome

This clock is made out of laser cut Acrylic. The minute hand holds the engraved American Sign Language hand-shapes and the inlayed english letters. From a direct
overhead view the minute hand rotates allowing ASL hand-shapes to appear and English letters to disappear and vice versa, dependent where they are in relation to the black and
white background.
What I want people to see is, this visual of seen and gone hand-shapes/letters represents how confusing, frustrating, and
choppy interactions can be between deaf and hearing people
